Charity Work

At Pow-HER Chiropractic our vision is to help create a healthier and more active community. Well, we are expanding our "community" to those suffering from the Around the world. This page was originally created after the Japan Earthquake. There have been so many natural disasters around the world in the past year that we have decided to update the page.

In her limited free time Dr. Cheryl still finds the time to volunteer her services and give back to her community.  She is on the Board of Directors of Interfaith Works,  business volunteer for Junior Achievement, and Volunteer Chiropractor the Congressional Football Team.

Whenever donations are made: If you itemize deductions on your tax return, you may be able to take an income tax deduction for a gift to a qualified charitable organization. The actual cost of your donation is therefore reduced through your savings on your taxes. For instance, if you are in the 33% tax bracket, you would save $33 on a donation of $100.

We've selected different reputable charitable organizations for you to choose from:

Interfaith Works

At Interfaith Works (formerly Community Ministry of Montgomery County) we are focused on helping our neighbors: people who live in poverty in one of the most affluent communities in the country. Our programs include homeless services, housing, family services, clothing centers, and emergency supportiw programs that provide - assistance to individuals and families who have a hard time making ends meet in our high cost community. We also educate and bring together thousands of youth, seniors, and members of congregations and civic groups to give voice and seek solutions to the issues of poverty in our community.

At POWHER we hold an annual Holiday Drive to benefit Interfaith Clothing Center.

Congressional Football Game

The Congressional Flag Football Game for Charity started organically between Members of Congress and the Capitol Police as a way to raise monies for families of fallen Capitol Police Officers and to express gratitude for the work and service of the Capitol Police who protect them daily. Since the beginning ‘backyard brawls’ the game has progressively increased in size and scope. Come join the fun and help us raise money for these worthy charities and their missions.

Junior Achievement of Greater Bethesda

In the most powerful city in the world, at Junior Achievement of Greater Washington, we believe that we have a responsibility to transform the preparedness of our youth from a mission into a movement. We believe that together, we can inspire an entire generation to be financially capable and tenacious, equipped with 21st century skills to think outside the box, manage risk effectively, and welcome opportunity in a complex modern economy. Through our standards-based experiential financial literacy, work readiness, and entrepreneurship programs taught by a volunteer role model from the community, we are preparing our region's future leaders to understand that anything is possible with hard work and take on their destiny with passion.

Junior Achievement is more than small business and lemonade stands. Together with our business, community, and education partners, we are working to ensure that this generation is better prepared for success than any other generation in history. In short, Junior Achievement of Greater Washington inspires the next generation to navigate their path to their own American Dream.
